History
In 1955, when sugar mills and pineapple fields still dotted Hawaii's landscape, a fledgling insurance company known as Hawaii Insurance Consultants, Ltd. (HIC) was founded to help plantation workers find affordable auto insurance.
Over the years, HIC built on its service delivery to local union members by pioneering group insurance to consumers through their employers, associations or other organizations. The company's success caught the attention of American International Group, a leader in financial services worldwide, which incorporated HIC as a wholly-owned subsidiary called AIG Hawaii.
AIG Hawaii has remained rooted in its focus on serving its customers, by providing quality products and services in the Hawaii marketplace. AIG Hawaii today is a full-service provider, with an array of personal and business insurance that includes homeowners, life, disability, long-term care, workers compensation and commercial auto products.
