State Insurance Department

The Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs oversees the Hawaii insurance industry. As part of its duties, the department issues licenses, examines the fiscal condition of Hawaii-based companies, reviews rate and policy filings, and investigates insurance related complaints. The Hawaii Insurance Division Compliance and Enforcement Branch conducts investigations to assure compliance with the applicable statutes and rules. Appropriate disciplinary actions are taken as appropriate. To file a complaint, a complaint form must be completed and submitted to the Hawaii Insurance Division.
